The challenge
Users wanted to set and manage reminders just by chatting.
What we built
- Natural-language reminders with timezone-aware dates
- Batch creation, edits, deletes and “next week” agenda lookups
- Saved in the tool before the AI replies, so confirmations are real
The full story
The situation
Users of an AI assistant wanted to set and manage reminders just by chatting.
What we built
The reminder backend for the assistant. The AI sends each request to a dedicated tool, and the tool validates it and writes to the database.
What it handles
- Natural-language reminders with relative dates in the user’s timezone
- Up to four reminders in one message
- Lookups by date or range, such as “next week”
- Edits, deletes and completion
- Recent reminders cached in Redis so follow-up messages have context
A key decision
The reminder is saved inside the tool before the AI replies, so a confirmation always means the action really happened. In one test, “next week” in Asia/Kolkata time returned the right week and nine reminders.
